Technology is changing the way we play, the way we work, and even the way we sleep. Here’s a list of our favorite sleep technology on the market that helps you sleep easy.
Your bed is definitely an important place in your home, but bed technology hasn’t changed all that much since, uh, ever. Getting a good night’s sleep isn’t always guaranteed so our ears perked up at the sound of the . The cover fits over your bed mattress like a sheet, and has sensors woven into it that track your sleep. Aside from the novelty of looking at your sleep data, it can tell your phone’s alarm when to wake you in your lightest sleep cycle for optimum dream time. You can also use it to change the temperature for either side of the bed to make it warmer or cooler for each person. Love it.
I look forward to seeing how it develops further, as developers work on ways to control thermostats, and turn down the lights from the bed. They say you will be able to brew a cuppa using a WiFi-enabled coffee machine. I’m not sure if that will make it easier or harder to get out of bed in the morning.
This one’s for the baby mamas and papas out there who are still adjusting to their child’s late night sleep patterns. has made a baby monitor that can tell you whether the room is too noisy, how much longer before Bubba wakes up for feeding, and what mood he’ll be in when it happens. They’ve already sold out their first batch, so you will just have to hop on to the if you’re into it.
So many things can be controlled by apps now, but we love the idea of being able to wave your hand to get the job done. There are a range of gesture-controlled tools on the market now. caught our attention because it is a small wearable ring that recognizes your gestures. It connects with an app to allow you to turn down the lights, answer your phone or play music, without needing to pick up your device. Although it’s on the market now, looks like it needs a few more developers before it’s fully optimized.
In some parts of town, you may want to keep your lights on to ward people away. In other cases, you want to keep appliances off to save money (and the environment!). There are many systems now like the smart socket that let you preset time for off and on. It can be controlled remotely, so all you need is your smartphone and a cellular connection. Most useful when you’ve already left the house and you can’t remember if you’ve turned off the curling tongs! Yep. Guilty.
It’s not always possible to put your vanity table in the place with the best natural light. That’s why we love this , which has its own lighting system to give you natural light while you’re putting on your make up. It turns on as you approach it, and switches itself off when you walk away. You can hook it up to your phone and send it your selfies. It will then mimic the lighting in those photos to see what you’ll look like in those different environments.
